The towns of Falacho and Falacho de Cima, just over two kilometers from the city of Silves, are being evacuated due to the proximity of the flames. The fire, which started on Friday in Monchique, spread to the neighboring county yesterday and is approaching these two population agglomerates, although there is no information on housing at risk, he revealed to Sul Informação the mayor of Silves Rosa Palma.

According to the mayor Silvense, the situation "complicated on Monday night", which led to the evacuation of isolated houses and population centers. Since yesterday and throughout the night, the fire walked near Zebro de Cima. Today, he threatens Falacho and Falacho de Cima.

“We have been inviting people to leave their homes, at least at the riskiest stage. People have understood. Some are going to their relatives' homes, others are being moved to the Garcia Domingos School, where we can receive them and have logistical support», revealed Rosa Palma.

“The adverse weather conditions that are felt have not helped and have raised several scattered fire points. It's very complicated,” he added.

On the ground, firefighters and resources are already fighting the flames, but the mayor of Silves asks "that more come, because the operatives are getting tired." The population of Zebro de Cima ended for having to fight the flames alone, during the night and well into the morning, since the means that were there were sent to another location.

In the morning, they began to be helped by a helicopter. Meanwhile, three Canadair planes are already operating on this fire front that is raging in Silves , which have "given a helping hand".

The City Council of Silves, guaranteed Rosa Palma, has done its homework and has "the vast majority of fuel lanes made", as well as "all accesses". But, given "that the fire is bouncing" and due to the wind, "it has been difficult for firefighters to fight the flames."

Also done is “the survey of all dispersed housing” existing in the municipality. "We know which houses are inhabited, which people with reduced mobility, which facilitates the relocation process when there are situations of danger", he assured.
