Sidewalks of São Brás de Alportel are once again filled with art

The event aims to boost the historic center of São Brás de Alportel

Street arts and gastronomy will once again animate the historic center of São Brás de Alportel, tomorrow, August 14th. “Calçadas, a Arte Sai à Rua” will feature music, dance, crafts, sweets and snacks, poetry, theater, design, sculpture and photography, among other arts.

This event “invites visitors to enjoy art at every step along the sidewalks of the historic center of São Brasense, including Rua Gago Coutinho, the target of recent intervention”, according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
Once again, São Brasenses are challenged to actively participate in the contest.

A free-entry event, called “The Most Beautiful Window”, which “encourages the decoration of windows and shop windows in the Historic Center in an original and creative way”. The winner will have a photograph from their window, balcony or shop window on the cover of the cultural agenda “São Brás happens”.

The entertainment goes through the different stages of the event: Vila Adentro, Praça Velha, Churchyard, Library, À do Calçadas and Calçadinha.

The group includes Veredas da Memória (traditional music), Fadista Motard (fado) and fadista Sara Gonçalves. Also present will be The Wine-a-Billy Rollers (rockabilly), Rua da Lua” (light music), Appo (folk music), Luke Redmond (folk/rock) and DJ Miká.

The stage at the Churchyard will once again be dedicated to dance and will feature performances by the Folklore Group of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, the Municipal Dance School, the Algarve Dance Company and the São Brás Bailando group .

The program to be presented is «diverse and designed for the whole family». Children can enjoy the children's show Trocadoras Itinerantes and the cultural event “Trovas do Vinho” presented by Afonso Dias.

For the whole family, there will be “Stories of goosebumps”, which will be told by Maria José Carocinho and Fernando Guerreiro at Calçadinha, from midnight onwards.
