The Ponto JA store, located next to the Municipal Market of Portimão, is already open at Beach Point, in the Praia da Rocha Sports Area.
«Considering the very important social role in the monitoring and healthy occupation of the young people's free time and the significant decrease in affluence to the space verified with the end of the school period, the opening of Beach Point, during the summer, came to promote greater proximity with the young people,” says the City Council of Portimão.
In this space, operating in the Praia da Rocha Sports Area, until 31st August, young people can purchase the Municipal Youth Card, have access to the Library created with the aim of sharing books, which they can take with them, receive information or clarifications about opportunities for exchange, training and volunteering at local, national and international level and also, whenever necessary, to be referred for counseling in the areas of psychology, nutrition, assessment and prescription of physical activity and nursing, which are available at the Office of Portimão Youth Health.
In addition to the counseling services, Beach Point is a social place where there is space for young people to propose activities and implement dynamics with the help and supervision of a DYPALL technician – Developing Youth Participation At Local Level.
This organization is part of a European initiative involving local authorities and civil society organizations active in the youth field in more than 20 European countries, with the aim of involving young people in democratic decision-making processes at the local level and thus enabling municipalities and regional authorities to focus their policies more effectively on the needs and interests of youth.
