European Union funds have a 15% execution rate in the Algarve

15% of EU funds have already been used in the Algarve. Post-2020 strategy debates will resume in the autumn.

European Union funds have an execution rate of 15% in the Algarve, announced Francisco Serra, president of the Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR). 

The proposal for the reprogramming of CRESC Algarve 2020 was approved by the Monitoring Committee, at a meeting where the president of the CCDR informed that the rate of execution of the funds is in line with the other Regional Operational Programs.

In other words, what this means is that 15% of European funds have already been used in the Algarve.

According to Francisco Serra, who also serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of CRESC Algarve 2020, "the reprogramming proposal that we are going to defend with the European Union bets on the qualification and promotion of employment, in the continuity of support for investment in innovation in companies, in strengthening the employment policy and in supporting local-based entrepreneurship, in proximity investments in equipment and infrastructure of basic services, favoring social cohesion and territorial competitiveness and intensifying the commitment to the area of ​​sustainable urban mobility", areas that have become the respective allocations increased in an exercise that involved around ten percent of the European Union funds (ERDF and ESF) allocated to the Algarve.

During the meeting, Francisco Serra took stock of the six public debates on the post-2020 regional strategy and announced a second cycle of sessions to be held next autumn, in front of around fifty representatives of local authorities, higher education institutions and civil society , as well as the Portuguese State and the European Union, which are part of the Monitoring Committee and are responsible for analyzing and approving the methodology and selection criteria, implementation reports and other matters related to CRESC Algarve 2020.
