Festa da Ria Formosa serves "the best seafood" in Faro

This wants to be the «best edition ever» of the Festa da Ria Formosa

The 25th Festa da Ria Formosa starts this Thursday, 26th of July, and, until 5th of August, it will serve “the best seafood”, in Largo de São Francisco, in Faro.

In total there will be 11 days of competition to eat seafood or other local and regional specialties, made based on the recipes and traditions of the municipality of Faro. Entrance is, as always, free and the opening hours will be between 19:00 and 01:00.

The 25th edition of this event organized by Vivmar – Association of Nurseries and Shellfishers of Ria Formosa, to which the City Council of Faro joins again, «this year will continue to present a group of national, regional and local artists, who will brighten up this festival, which is expected to be the biggest ever, following its enormous growth year after year».

Because the Festa da Ria Formosa «is today a regional reference and one of the main gastronomic events in the country», considers the municipality.

«The success of this event is guaranteed by all those who chose Ria Formosa to develop their activities, the high quality and freshness of the products that our waters provide, which, after being prepared, according to the region's centuries-old traditions, are placed available to visitors who enjoy the best of Algarve gastronomy».

The event will require changes to traffic until the 6th of August. Access by car to Vila Adentro will be made through Arco da Vila, through Rua do Município, and the exit from Vila Adentro will be through Arco do Repouso, maintaining the current exit through Rua da Porta Nova.

Rua do Castelo will have two-way traffic and alternate circulation, on the section between Praça D. Afonso III and Largo do Castelo. Still on Rua do Castelo, this will be without exit and conditioned to residents, suppliers and emergency vehicles.

In addition to these changes, «it is still necessary to close the south and west zone of Largo de S. Francisco to traffic and divert public transport through Rua Dª Teresa Ramalho Ortigão», concludes the Chamber of Faro.
