Two men who robbed three houses and, in one case, shot at the owner, were detained by the Judiciary Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Portimão. The crimes took place between July and October 2017 in the municipalities of Portimão and Lagoa.

The first robbery the two men were linked to took place on July 26, 2017, in the municipality of Lagoa. The pair entered an isolated residence and tied up the 74-year-old owner of the house, having stolen "gold objects, around 100 euros, two shotguns and a light vehicle," according to the PJ.

On October 13, in Vidigal, Mexilhoeira Grande, municipality of Portimão, one of the detainees shot at the glass of the main door of a house to gain access to the interior, with the second man entering the house and firing a shot at the owner, a 72 year old man. The defendants tied up the man and his wife, also 72, and took "about 160 euros, as well as jewelery items valued at 6000 euros."

The third crime was committed days later, on 23 October. That day, the two assailants broke down the bars on the window of a house in Portimão, entered and tied up the 82-year-old owner. They took with them gold with an estimated value of 10 euros.

The defendants, aged 28 and 34, will go to court to find out what coercive measures they will be subject to.
