The Alzheimer Portugal association will launch, on the 30th of July, on the beaches of Rocha Baixinha, in Albufeira, and da Rocha, in Portimão, a campaign to publicize this dementia, conveying a «positive and inclusive message».
This campaign will be launched on International Friendship Day, in 20 different locations across the country.
According to José Carreira, president of Alzheimer Portugal, “it is important to combat the lack of knowledge and stigma associated with dementia, as well as to raise the level of awareness on this topic”.
With this initiative, he adds, "we want to help citizens understand how dementia affects people and contribute to changing behaviors that make society more friendly to people with dementia."
This campaign wants to change the way the country thinks, acts and talks about dementia.
Alzheimer Portugal is the only organization in Portugal, nationwide, specifically established with the aim of promoting the quality of life of people with dementia and their families and caregivers. Its vision is a society that integrates people with dementia and recognizes their rights.
