The Alcoutim Council will grant support to four clubs and associations in the municipality, totaling 11860 euros, to "deal with expenses related to the carrying out of sociocultural, sporting and recreational activities" that are part of the association's activity plans .
The Association for Ethnographic Development of Martim Longo (ADECMAR), the Cultural and Recreation Center of Pessegueiro, the Inter-Vivos Association – Association of Young People in the Northeast of Algarve and the Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim (GDA) are the collectives through which the funds will be distributed. .
In the case of ADECMAR, the support is intended to cover expenses with the XV edition of the Folklore Festival of Martim Longo, «an event that annually moves hundreds of people in the village and where dancing and singing are represented, as well as uses and customs throughout the country», explains the Chamber.
The funds allocated to the Pessegueiro Cultural and Recreation Center will be applied to the maintenance works of the headquarters building.
The Inter-Vivos association will apply the funds to the organization of the III Urban Circuit of Martim Longo in Athletics, a competition organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Alcoutim and the Athletics Association of the Algarve, which takes place on 1 September.
Regarding the GDA, the funds are essentially intended to support the club's activity in terms of canoeing, and the municipality's objective is to "continue to provide young people in the municipality with the possibility of practicing this sport that has so far taken the name of Alcoutim" .
