A tree felling, in the middle of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, in the Cacela Velha area, was "authorized by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF)," he told reporters. Sul Informação, source of the GNR.

The images of these works, on a private land that is in a protected area by the National Agricultural Reserve (RAN) and National Ecological Reserve (REN), near the Fortaleza de Cacela Velha, appeared on social networks this Wednesday, 4th of July. indignation reactions.

The photographs show dozens of felled trees and marks from the passage of machines.

This cleaning changes the Mediterranean landscape of that area, where construction is “completely prohibited”, according to a source from the Vila Real de Santo António City Council.
