Uber has just announced the strengthening of the operation in the Algarve to "quadruple growth in the region".

Uber users can choose from two types of services according to their needs: uberX, the most economical option, and uberXL, a travel option for groups with a capacity of up to six users.

Rui Bento, general director of Uber for the Iberian Peninsula, says that "Uber provides a safe and economical travel option in the Algarve, with waiting times of less than four minutes in most of the region."

«We want to continue serving the Algarve, the many Portuguese and international users who travel to the south of the country at this time of year, and our community of more than 5 drivers in Portugal sees the growth of our operation in the Algarve as an important economic opportunity ».

In 2017, the longest trip to the Algarve started at Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, and 573 kilometers later ended in Portimão. The most popular times to travel by users in the Algarve are from 19pm to 00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays between 20am and 00am.

Last year alone, 5 million foreign tourists opened the Uber application in Portugal.

Since 2016, thousands of tourists have traveled with the Uber application in the Algarve, having arrived from 128 different countries – from China to Tanzania, from Romania to Ghana, from Kazakhstan to Rwanda. In Portugal, the Uber application has been downloaded around 1,5 million times since operating in the country.
