David Fonseca gives a concert this Saturday, June 16, at 21 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, in Loulé, where he will present “Radio Gemini”, in a show that revolves around this new album, but which has some experiences to discover.

“Even when it's a show that focuses on a new record, people's expectation is also to hear songs they know better. It was something I learned over time» reveals David Fonseca to Musical-Sul Informação.

It is the experience of 20 years as a talking musician and that is reflected in a concert that also gives an overview of a career that began in 1998 with Silence 4.

The record's markedly radio format marks the design, but is not exclusive to the show, there is much to discover for anyone visiting Loulé, with a guarantee left by the musician.

«It's a party! From beginning to end there is a lot of mystery in there too. It speaks a lot about the trips I made and traveled throughout the making of the record. It is a spectacle to discover with an open heart. I want to take the experience of this album to the stage, to be witnessed live».

David Fonseca's radio past, as a young man, at Rádio Clube de Leiria, is reflected in the record where an invitation is made to listen to the themes as if it were a radio program.

“The idea was to take the songs, which were very different from each other, and make it as if it were a one-hour program, but with a common thread, where the author himself would sing them”, reveals the musician. It became a conceptual record, with an idea underlying the composition, and from which the record was built.

This was an idea that had been thought by the singer for a long time, but it would have to be put into practice on a record with the right characteristics, something he found in the composition of this latest work. In the middle of the songs you can hear some tabs that link the themes and serve as an invitation for the album to be heard from beginning to end.

"There are very brief notes on the record, of experimental ideas, of people who speak in the middle of the record, who wanted them to be unremarkable, who create a certain logic when you listen to the entire record", says David Fonseca.

Of course the themes also work in an isolated way, providing good singles ears like “Oh My Heart”, a song that the musician says he really enjoyed doing, not being a very usual sound in his work, making a mixture almost of a philharmonic band with elements of more danceable music.

In addition to this, there is also the single “Get Up”. One of the rules laid down by the musician was to combat the tendency to confine himself when making a record, making the composition of themes itinerant, capturing ideas that came to him throughout his travels.

«When I went to write the record sheet, I didn't even know where half of the things were recorded, because, in fact, they were recorded all over the place, using small, pocket-sized synthesizers, guitar recordings from this place and that , to voice recordings in hotel rooms. It also went through the studio, it's true, but it is perhaps the most eclectic record in terms of recording».

Thus, the travels, places and experiences that I was living, were marked and recorded in these themes, even if in a way not always so immediate, but reflected in a «sound different from the record», reveals David Fonseca.

It is this record and a little bit of his 20-year career, which David Fonseca presents in an 80-minute show, with tickets costing 12 euros or 10 euros for people over 65 and under 30 (Friend Card applicable). The concert is free for anyone who is or is 18 this calendar year, subject to room availability.
