The Montepio Foundation will deliver vehicles adapted to the association “O Pontão”, from Conceição de Tavira, and to the Parish Center of Pêra (Silves), on the 4th of July, at 11:00 am, at the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, in Lisbon.

The event will be attended by Miguel Feliciano Gaspar, councilor for Mobility and Security at the Lisbon City Council, and the president of the Montepio Foundation and the Montepio Group António Tomás Correia, who will deliver the 21 special and adapted vehicles that make up the Frota Solidária initiative 2018 to institutions across the country.

“The Frota Solidária program is an initiative born in civil society with the objective of responding to the needs of those who need it most. This is a great day for the Montepio Foundation and a great day for the entire Montepio Group. These are our partners in the social economy area that allow us to develop this project, which we believe is a huge asset to all users and employees who, every day, carry out exceptional work», says António Tomás Correia, president of the Foundation Montepio and the Montepio group.

In 2017, the Montepio Foundation received, through the Ministry of Finance, 229 thousand euros, resulting from amounts allocated in 2015 under the Religious Freedom Law (Tax Consignment).

Due to the fact that this amount was delivered, by the taxpayers, to the care and management of the Montepio Foundation, this public utility institution decided to return it to civil society, through the application of the same in the acquisition of special and adapted motor vehicles that, constituting the which we called “Frota Solidária”, will support the activity of 21 private social solidarity institutions.

Created in 2008 by the Montepio Foundation, Frota Solidária is a project that materializes through the acquisition, transformation and adaptation of vehicles for private social solidarity institutions (IPSS) throughout the country.

Since 2008, the Montepio Foundation has received, through the Tax Consignment, 4 million euros, fully returned to civil society through the delivery of 203 solidarity vehicles to an equal number of IPSS.

Frota Solidária's mission is to support mobility, inclusion and the fight against isolation and desertification, contributing to a more inclusive, cohesive and solidary society.
