The Real Madrid Foundation's Vila Real de Santo António Sports School will host the “Copa Alma” between the 2nd and 5th of July, a tournament that brings together the teams and schools that stand out in the social and sports integration work promoted. by the Madrid emblem.

For the second time, VRSA is the host city of the initiative that brings together the schools that have best fulfilled the objectives defined by the merengue foundation, whose merit is already recognized around the world and rewards values ​​such as solidarity, motivation or equality.

The holding of the event in the Algarve highlights the good practices and the excellent results achieved by the Escola Sócio Desportiva in Vila-Realense, which has been active for seven years and has trained close to a thousand young people.

The football tournament will take place at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex and will bring together dozens of children – in mixed teams, – aged between 12 and 13, coming from Portugal, Morocco, Romania, Russia, Hungary and Spain.

For Conceição Cabrita, Mayor of VRSA, «the organization of this meeting by our Sports Partner School is proof of the recognition of the good work developed in recent years, to which the municipality was associated from the first moment».

«With the support of a team of technicians and professionals, we have sought to integrate young people with VRSA at risk, with learning difficulties or in environments where it is not possible to practice sports, encouraging healthy ways of life and instilling in children values ​​such as solidarity or team spirit are signaled by the partner entities”, continues Conceição Cabrita.

The Real Madrid Foundation's VRSA Social Sport School was founded in 2011 through a protocol established with the VRSA City Council.

This, which was Real Madrid's first school at national level, counts, in the 2017/2018 school year, with a hundred children aged between 6 and 13 years old and includes football and basketball modalities. Over its five years of activity, it has trained more than 500 students.

The methodologies used aim to reward merit and take into account factors such as school grades, behavior, as well as the attendance of students to attend the Foundation's activities.

To guarantee the good performance of the school, the technicians responsible for the project regularly develop training actions and monitor the results, which are periodically sent to the Foundation's headquarters.
