Cinema, themed workshops and sporting activities are proposed for the Summer Holidays of children and young people in Portimão.
The activities take place at the Museum, at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, at Quinta Pedagógica, and, with regard to Sports Holidays, at various school facilities and at the Sports Complexes of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande.
At the Museu de Portimão, the Educational Workshop will explore silent cinema with an activity entitled “People from the Land and the Sea”, which will take place with the formation of five groups, from June 25th to July 27th, between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm and at 13:30 pm and 16:30 pm.
Aimed at children from 7 to 12 years old, the initiative aims to stimulate creativity, the capacity for expression and group work.
Registration is weekly and costs 20 euros. During the lunch period, between 12:00 and 13:30, participants will be able to go home or have lunch with the monitors. At Quinta Pedagógica de Portimão, the program offers an attractive set of initiatives aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old, who between June 25 and August 17 will privilege themed workshops and activities in the middle of nature, always in contact with the animals of the Quinta . In this rural space, right in the middle of the city, it is possible to practice various traditional trades simultaneously with food and environmental education.
Participants can attend the morning shift, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the afternoon shift, from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm, or the full day. With regard to the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, this facility will once again promote the project “Five Stories, Five Weeks and a Night”, which between July 30 and September 1, between 10:00 and 12:30, will allow children between ages 6 and 10 participated in ateliers and workshops inspired by children's literature, where stories are told and written, puppets are built, scenarios are painted and imaginary worlds are created.
Enrollment in the project, which will culminate on September 1st with the “Special Night at the Library” initiative, where children will play games and adventures in the dark, must be made in person between July 2nd and 6th, from Monday to Friday, from 12:30 pm to 15:30 pm.

The 28th edition of the Sports Holidays will take place from June 25th to August 10th. The project, aimed at young people from 6 to 16 years old, is divided into three shifts and aims to provide a healthy occupation of summer vacations through various sports, recreational, cultural, civic and environmental education activities.
Enrollments will take place in different locations and can be made for the three shifts simultaneously from the 18th of June.
For the Portimão nucleus, they take place in the Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo de Portimão and to attend the centers of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande, those interested should go to the respective sports complexes in each parish.
