The Left Block (BE) considers that the Hospital Central do Algarve should be built as soon as possible.

For the bloquists, «the time has come to no longer postpone this project, so important for the population of the Algarve. Efforts must be made with a view to scheduling the construction of the Hospital Central do Algarve as soon as possible».

BE considers that the Centro Hospital Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) has an «insufficient infrastructure and in a process of progressive degradation due to the lack of the necessary investment», as well as an «internal (and evolving) environment of some tension and not very collaborative».

In addition, there is "a shortage of human resources" and "constraints of currents of disinvestment", such as, for example, the "reduction in the capacity of the operating room".

For all these reasons, BE proposes that the Assembly of the Republic recommends to the Government that "the necessary actions be taken with a view to building the Hospital Central do Algarve" and that the management of this future hospital be "public and not a public-private partnership ( PPP)".

The BE also asks that "the means necessary for the normal functioning of the hospital units of CHUA" be ensured.

In a statement, the blocistas recalled that «this new Hospital, to be installed in Parque das Cidades, between Loulé and Faro, even had the right to lay the first stone, in 2006, but twelve years later there are still no consistent developments on its construction».
