The announcement was made during a ceremony of the IX Quelfes Games, which São Brás hosted on 11 May.

The founder of the Quelfes Games Gustavo Marcos also addressed some inspiring words to the public. «Olympism is a transmitter of values and activator of a very particular state of mind, where the will can lead us to victory over adversity and the progress of our species, in a context of respect and promotion of others, linked to the construction of a society peaceful and universal, concerned with human dignity, the protection of the environment and the integration of differences».

José Manuel Constantino, president of the Portuguese Olympic Committee, highlighted the way in which the Quelfes Games have expanded their area of intervention over the past nine years and the impact they have on young people who have participated and participate in it.

«That they can feel the taste for sports practice» and that they can continue to practice sports throughout their lives, was the wish that José Manuel Constantino expressed to the young participants during his intervention.

«It is an honor for São Brás de Alportel to host this opening ceremony of the Quelfes Games.
