18 teachers from five European countries (Bulgaria, Spain, Macedonia, Lithuania and Poland), were in Olhão between 14 and 18 May, within the scope of the ERAMUS+ project “My little Europe”, in an initiative that aims to promote cultural exchange with the 1st cycle students.

The welcome ceremony, held on the morning of May 14, at Escola Paula Nogueira, in Olhão, was organized by the Portuguese hosts – teachers and students from the 1st cycle, from the 2ndB and 3rdB classes of School nº5, and 4thB of School nº7 , from the Paula Nogueira Group – which since 2016 have been involved in this trans-European project coordinated by Poland.

In an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and euphoria, the foreign teachers, for the first time in Portugal, were welcomed with traditional Portuguese songs and dances and were offered a small basket with regional Algarvian products, as well as a branch of the Day of the students. Ear.

During the days of the stay, in addition to visiting schools and participating in activities with students from the classes involved, the group of foreign teachers had the opportunity to visit the sociocultural points of interest in the municipality of Olhão, as well as other emblematic places in the region of Algarve.

In addition to cultural exchange, broadening geographical horizons, awakening a taste for research and group work, learning about local, national and European heroes selected by students, developing skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and practicing a foreign language ( English) are some of the goals of this innovative and motivating educational project, at the reach of a click through the new technological tools available in the classrooms.

For the teachers involved, the ERAMUS+ “My little Europe” allows, among other benefits, a personal and curricular enrichment, through the exchange of good practices in educational institutions.

The basis for the development of this project was based on the study of neurodidactics, a discipline that results from the intersection between neurosciences and pedagogy.
