The 8th edition of the Festival of Popular Marches starts this Friday, June 1st, in S. Luís, and will tour the municipality of Odemira.
During the month of June, the 8th edition of the Festival of Marches will take place in the county, with 10 meetings of marches, an initiative of the Municipality of Odemira and of the various communities.
Every year, the marches mobilize hundreds of people in choreographies, music, wardrobe, arrangements and props.
The marches will be presented in S. Luís (1 June), S. Teotónio (2 June), Longueira (8 June), Colos (9 June), Cavaleiro (15 June), Boavista dos Pinheiros (16 June), Sabóia (22 June), Zambujeira do Mar (23 June) and Vila Nova de Milfontes (29 June).
The town of Odemira receives, on the night of June 30, at 21 pm, the Grand Final of the 00th Festival of Popular Marches in the municipality, with the participation of all the marches promoted by the communities of the various parishes and sardines offered to the population. Entries are free, as are other meetings within the scope of the activity.
The marches are promoted by the Casa do Povo of S. Luís, the Longueira Cultural, Recreational and Sports Association, Boavista dos Pinheiros Festivals Association, Cavaleiro's Sports and Cultural Center, D. Ana Pacheco Humanitarian Association (Sabóia), Recreational Cultural Association and Desportiva Zambujirense, Association of Retired Persons, Pensioners and Elderly of the Parish of S. Teotónio and Sports and Cultural Center of Odemira.
Within the scope of the Festival of Marches, from the 1st to the 29th of June, a Festival of Marches Costumes Show will be on display at the José Saramago Municipal Library, in Odemira, an initiative that aims to enhance and show the work of the guard. clothing, in female and male models, made for the marches and presented at the festival the year before.
