The exhibition “Gente de Outros Tempos”, which is now in its third edition, opens next Saturday, May 19, at 16:30 pm, at Forte Ponta da Bandeira, in Lagos. 

According to the Câmara de Lagos, recognizing "that what we are today is also the result of the prominence of generations that preceded us, this photo-documentary exhibition is intended to recall some of these people by showing their features - the faces of those whose only ones are known. names carried by oral tradition or evoked in the city's toponymy».

This third edition continues, therefore, to show portraits and biographies of people from Lagos, based on the collection of the Municipal Fototeca plus contributions from collectors and relatives of those portrayed.

For Francisco Castelo, photographer and coordinator of the Municipal Photo Library of Lagos, «the work collected for this exhibition reflects the importance with which we regard photographic records for the construction» of the history of the people of Lagos.

«And because time runs away, and it is fast, we continue to remember faces that the distance of time invites to oblivion, against which we fight back with photographs, mirrors of the time that was, aids to the memory that remains», he says.

The exhibition will be open to the public between the 19th of May and the 30th of August (with the possibility of the deadline being extended), at Forte Ponta da Bandeira, during the opening hours of the equipment (Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 14:00 pm at 17:30 pm.
