This Friday, May 18, the historic center of Vila Real de Santo António was visited by around 40 Harley Davidsons motorcycles, which gathered in Praça Marquês de Pombal, in an initiative organized by the 1st Algarve Free Chapters.

The presence of the motorbikes brought together dozens of curious people in the Pombaline city, who were able to observe their different models up close. You bikers took the opportunity to get to know the city center of Vila Real de Santo António, namely the commercial and restaurant area.

The event contributed to the promotion of tourism in the county, as the participants are accommodated «in a hotel in Monte Gordo, come from various parts of the country and essentially around the world», said the president of the Chamber Conceição Cabrita, in an interview with Sul Informação.

The presence of foreigners to get to know the locality and the county «is an asset so that they can come back here in the future», in addition to the fact that the City Council «has no expenses whatsoever» with this initiative and «is always ready and available» for receive this and any other type of event, added the mayor.

Os bikers they were left with a "very positive image" of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, having enjoyed the "landscapes, walks and gastronomy", such as grilled fish and specialties from the Algarve mountains, revealed Mark Stephens, responsible for the Free Chapters, to Sul Informação.

The Harleys passed through several Portuguese locations this Wednesday, such as Mértola, Tavira and Monte Gordo. This Saturday, a tour is planned for the municipality of Castro Marim and, on Sunday, they head to Cacela Velha and Faro.

According to the Mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, there is a strong probability that, in the next two years, the Harleys Davidsons will be back in the Algarve, despite being the organization "to choose the location", which is different every year. years old.

The initiative brought together around 450 participants from countries such as Portugal, Brazil, Vietnam, Belgium, South Africa, Luxembourg, Canada, France, Poland, Italy, Greece and Hungary.

This meeting of lovers of the American motorcycle brand aims to create bonds of friendship between the bikers and discover different parts of the world and respective cultures.
