Futebol Clube Ferreiras is the new district football champion in the Algarve and will compete in the Portuguese Championship in the next season of 2018/2019.

The team from the municipality of Albufeira thrashed Messinense by 6-0, this Saturday, May 12th, and made the party when there is still a journey to the end of the competition.

After an immaculate first phase, in which Ferreiras was ranked 1st with a great advantage over the opponents, the team led by António Seromenho lowered the level of results in this phase of qualifying for champions.

Despite that, Ferreiras was always in 1st place, also the result of many mistakes made by Silves, the 2nd classified who was looking for the possibility of moving up in the division.

Now, in the last round, Ferreiras is already on the pitch for the Albufeira derby, against rival Immortal, with the certainty that they have achieved the much-desired climb.

Next season, Ferreiras will definitely join Louletano, Olhanense and Armacenenses, in the Portuguese Championship.

Farense, it should be remembered, still does not know if they will play in this competition or in the II League, as they are still in the play-off for access to the second tier of Portuguese football.

In the opposite way are Lusitano from Vila Real de Santo António, Almancilense and Moncarapachense, who competed in the Portuguese Championship, but have already gone down to the District.
