The Chamber of Castro Marim will promote a free screening for cancer and other skin diseases between the 9th and 11th of May, aimed at the entire population of the municipality.
On the 9th, the screening will take place at the Odeleite Parish Council, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, and at the Azinhal Continued Care Unit, between 14:00 pm and 17:30 pm.
On May 10th, it will be the turn of the Altura Parish Council to receive the action, with screenings taking place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:30 pm. The following day, May 11, at the same time, the exams will be held at the Castro Marim Municipal Library.
This screening, an initiative that the municipality has been promoting on a regular basis, has the voluntary collaboration of the dermatologist, Manuela Aguiar, and «has allowed the detection of tumoral lesions, which are then urgently forwarded to the Hospital de Faro, and the treatment of any precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) with liquid nitrogen acquired for this purpose'.
In next week's action, the first in 2018, in addition to the detection of diseases, special focus will be given “to the care to be taken with exposure to the sun, in raising awareness for the approaching bathing season”.
