Preparing the provision of vocational education in the Algarve, for short-medium-term needs in the region, is the main objective of the study carried out by the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL) and by the National Agency for Qualification and Vocational Education, which will be presented this Thursday, the 17th, at 14:30 pm, at the Hotel and Tourism School of Faro.

The “Intermediate Qualifications Needs Anticipation Study for the Algarve Region” was carried out between September last year and April this year, focused on intermediate qualifications in vocational education, corresponding to the 12th year of schooling, and intended to make a diagnosis of the reality this level of education, crossing the needs of companies with the offers that schools should guarantee from the next school year.

To this end, municipalities, schools, companies, students, guardians and other local and regional entities and associations were involved in the study.

In addition to a global analysis, a more accurate diagnosis was made to the tourism, hotel and restaurant sector.

In other sectors of activity, paths to be followed were also pointed out, in the social area, for example, more directed towards the elderly, where there is a lack of home support.

The study also indicates the need to diversify the region's economic base, investing in the economy of the sea, new agricultural production, health and well-being.

According to this work, it is also necessary to strengthen the training offer in areas of growing demand such as computing, digital communication, electronics, and robotics.
