The exhibition “A Primeira Pedra”, by Pedro Valdez Cardoso, opens on Saturday, April 14, at 18 pm, at the Municipal Museum of Faro.

This exhibition concludes the contemporary art cycle “Um Certo Ponto de Vista”, an Artadentro project presented as part of the second edition of “365Algarve”.

The First Stone — with sculptures designed for the space of the chapel of the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, now the Municipal Museum of Faro —, «it is immediately related, with a distant time, a time of initial acts: just as in the past a “first stone” was deposited to mark the place and the beginning of construction, so today the artist, with each proposal he makes , leaves its mark», explains Artadentro.

«That's what happens with Pedro Valdez Cardoso: and it is with humor that, aware of human fallibility, he associates symbolically significant objects, of varied origins, recycling them and building pieces that condense times and cultures — here and now —, as if suggesting A new beginning".

Pedro Valdez Cardoso was born in Lisbon, in 1974. He has exhibited his work since 2001, in individual and collective exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad. It integrates renowned national collections, as well as the Spanish ones from DA2 – DOMUS ARTIUM de Salamanca, IVAM – Valencian Institute of Modern Art in Valencia and MACUF – Museum of Contemporary Art Union Fenosa de Coruña. His work was awarded in Portugal and Spain.

During the opening, there will be a tasting of Algarve wines, thanks to the support of the CVA – Algarve Wine Commission.

The exhibition will run until 10 June and can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 17:00 pm.
