Paulo Sá, PCP deputy, defends that the indignation for the «the dire state of the EN125, between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António, is very fair”, and is associated with the “demand of a rapid completion of the works”.

The Algarve parliamentarian wrote an open letter to the Citizenship Movement of Users of the EN125 – Sotavento, which has been one of the faces of the demand for the start of the requalification of the EN125 and even recently sent a communiqué to all deputies elected by the Algarve.

«In its open letter to the deputies elected by the Algarve, the Citizenship Movement of EN 125 – Sotavento Users chooses to treat political parties and deputies in an undifferentiated way, putting them all in the same bag. This option ends up whitening, even if unintentionally, the heavy responsibilities of successive PSD, CDS and PS governments for the unacceptable delay in the completion of the EN125's requalification works», responds Paulo Sá.

"You can't put in the same bag those who, like PS, PSD and CDS, defend the maintenance of public-private road partnerships and who, like the PCP, denounced the ruinous nature of these partnerships and demanded their extinction", he adds.

«The Citizens' Movement of Users of the EN125-Sotavento will say that what is important is the completion of the EN125 rehabilitation works. True, this is a goal that must be quickly achieved. But this is not possible if the political options of PS, PSD and CDS that led to the blocking of the works are not identified and these options are not rejected», considers the deputy.

In its open letter, the Citizenship of Users movement on the EN 125-Sotavento invites deputies elected by the Algarve to visit the EN125.

In view of this, Paulo Sá defends that the PCP “develops an intense and diversified activity, deeply linked to the workers and populations of the Algarve region, based on permanent contact with the regional reality”.

In this communiqué, the deputy also lists some of the issues raised by the PCP, since 2012, in the Assembly of the Republic, about the works on the EN125.
