Albufeira will mark International Jazz Day, with a concert by pianist Júlio Resende, on April 28th, and another by Mário Laginha, on April 30th, both starting at 21 pm in the Municipal Auditorium.

The festivities program starts, then, on the 28th with the unprecedented show “Fado Ensemble”, by the pianist Júlio Resende.

On the 30th, the Loulé Jazz Trio invites Mário Laginha to share the stage, in a special meeting of two pianos, which will be joined by the Trio's rhythm section.

After the success of the album “Amália por Júlio Resende”, the pianist's passion for Fado has not cooled and the musician now presents an unprecedented show: “Fado Ensemble”, a project that multiplies the musical possibilities of Fado from the piano, guitar and braguinha, double bass, drums and percussions.

On stage for this concert, accompanying Júlio Resende (piano), will be André Rosinha (double bass), Pedro Segundo (drums and percussion) and André Santos (guitar and braguinha).

«Sometimes, by surprise, as in destiny, guests appear to join the party, sometimes not. But the most important thing is that this Fado is free and spontaneous, with vigor, revelry and enough strength to express the joys and afflictions present in life – and also in Fado», says the Algarve's Júlio Resende.

As for the show, the music presented will be “very strong but also very personal. Unlike “Amália”, whose themes we all knew from the collective memory, here some themes are original, others not, but everything involves looking at fado in a very personal way».

On April 30th (Monday), the date on which the International Jazz Day is celebrated, Mário Laginha and the Loulé Jazz Trio «promise to delight the public with a very special concert», says the City Council of Albufeira.

The «long-awaited meeting» on stage between one of the most acclaimed Portuguese musicians, Mário Laginha, and the project that he created and saw grow, the Loulé Jazz Trio, will take place in Albufeira, from 21 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium , constituting the highlight of the International Jazz Day celebrations.

The Loulé Jazz Trio, composed by António Quintino (double bass), João Coelho (piano) and João Pereira (drums) resulted from a national competition promoted by the Municipality of Loulé. The three young musicians stood out among their generation in the country's jazz scene, having made this training official in 2016.

Sponsored by Mário Laginha, president of the competition's jury, the project's main objectives are to explore the versatility of styles to interpret and to communicate the language of Jazz to an increasingly wider audience.
broad and heterogeneous.

Tickets cost 5 euros and are already on sale at the Municipal Council/Consumer Information Center and at Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, on weekdays, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm. They can also be purchased on the day of the shows, between 19:30 pm and 21:15 pm.
