The get-together “Sal de Castro Marim, the Best in the World”, will reveal the importance of this natural resource in the economic and social fabric of Castro Marim, its historical setting and what has been done for its affirmation and promotion. The session is scheduled for May 7, at 18 pm, at Colina do Revelim de Santo António, in Castro Marim.
The initiative will include entrepreneurs Fernando Reis, from Pedaços de Mar, Jorge Raiado, from Sal Marim, Luís Horta Correia, from Água Mãe, Luís Rodrigues, from Cooperativa Terras de Sal, Pedro Pires, technician for the heritage of NovBaesuris and representatives from Chamber of Castro Marim.
The director of the Guérande salt museums will also participate in this gathering, via Skype, presenting the salt industry of this French city, which is "a case of success".
The session is jointly organized by the municipal company NovBaesuris and the Jornal do Baixo Guadiana.
For Célia Brito, president of the Castro Marim municipal company, actions such as the one that will take place on 7 May, "may contribute to the recovery and revitalization of salt pans in Castro Marim, of which it is estimated that 60% are deactivated".
