The Baja de Loulé will hit the road on the 7th and 8th of April, being the second race of the national all-terrain championships.

This race passes through the municipalities of Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Almodôvar.

According to the organization, the event "records an increase in entries compared to last year" and will have the nerve center in Almancil, where the secretariat, the closed park and the assistance park will be located.

On Saturday, the prologue will take place in the Vale Judeu area, after which the competitors will go to the first selective. Two selective sectors follow on Sunday to be covered alternately between cars and motorcycles.

Among the forces at hand, in cars, we have João Ramos/Victor Jesus (Toyota Hi-Lux) who won the race last year and who also triumphed in the first race of 2018. Favoritism also falls on names like Pedro Ferreira/Hugo Magalhães (Ford Ranger) or Alejandro Martins/José Marques (Toyota Hi-Lux), while in T2 vehicles the favoritism falls on Rui Sousa/Carlos Silva (Isuzu D-Max), who have not lost a win in the category since Baja de Loulé from last year.

On motorcycles, António Maio (Yamaha), the defending champion, is trying to reach his sixth victory in the competition and should have greater opposition from Mário Patrão, who has already won four times in the Algarve. Between the quads favoritism falls to Arnaldo Martins (Suzuki), who won last year by a large margin, while in the increasingly numerous SSV (buggies) there are several names to take into account, among them João Monteiro/Manuel Pereira (Can-Am), João Dias/João Filipe (Polaris), Ruben Faria/Pedro Velosa (Can-Am) or the Spanish duo Teo Viñaras/ Roberto Viñaras (Yamaha).

The teams that survive the challenges imposed by the paths of Serra do Caldeirão will see their consecration on Sunday afternoon, at Jardim das Comunidade, in Almancil.

Baja de Loulé 2018 is an organization of the Clube Automóvel do Algarve under the aegis of the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting and the Motorcycling Federation of Portugal, with the high sponsorship of the municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Almancil and also with support from the municipalities of São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim, and Almodôvar, Algarpneus, Solverde Casinos and Hotels, Acrimolde and COPS.
