Monterosa Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced in Moncarapacho, won ten gold medals in two days in two international competitions. At the New York International Olive Oil Competition, which took place this Thursday, in New York, in the United States, the Algarve's olive oil won five medals. The day before, at Olive Japan 2018, in Tokyo, it had already won five awards.

In the New York competition, which put more than 900 olive oils from 27 countries to the competition and which is considered «the most prestigious competition today», Azeite Monterosa won gold medals for all monovarietals entered in the competition, Maçanilha, Cobrançosa, Verdeal and Picual, as well as for Selection, which includes a mixture of varieties.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Azeite Monterosa has managed to reach gold in the international competition in New York. Which, for the brand, «denotes well the sustainability of the quality and excellence of the product and its visibility and recognition at an international level».

In the Japanese competition, in which more than 600 olive oils from around 25 countries participated, the Algarve brand won 5 gold medals, this time for the three monovarietals: Maçanilha, Cobrançosa, Verdeal, for Selection and also for the new olive oil from entry-level released this year: “Horta do Felix”.

In this competition, Verdeal was also awarded the “Special Award Medium Intensity” and Picual was awarded silver.

Monterosa Olive Oil is sold in a black silkscreened bottle of 500 and 250ml, as well as a tasting kit with five 20ml bottles.

To the range of Maçanilha, Cobrançosa, Verdeal and Picual monovarietals, there is also a Selection that, according to the brand, «is produced with a mixture of varieties duly selected by the internal panel of tasters of the Monterosa team».

In this Selection olive oil, «the predominance of the Frantoio variety, which is originally a famous Italian variety that has been spreading throughout the whole olive-growing world, stands out».

This year, for the first time, an entry-level product was launched, the new “Horta do Felix”, which “combines a selection of cultivated varieties. It is a very elegant oil with an intense fruity aroma on the nose and a slight bitter and spicy flavor, with notes of dried fruit in the mouth. This oil is mainly intended for customers of the Horeca channel who are looking for high quality oil. This new product is available on the market in 250 and 500ml bottles».

The olive groves of Viveiros Monterosa are available for booking visits where you can directly taste their oils in their mill in Moncarapacho.
