The International Medical Assistance (AMI) will be this Tuesday in Faro to present the “No Planet B” project, an initiative that provides funding to small and medium-sized organizations to implement projects in the areas of awareness and defense of the environment.

“No Planet B” will be presented from 15:00 pm, in Auditorium 1.4. at the Penha Campus, at the University of Algarve, in Faro.

In Portugal, 18 projects will be financed, totaling 580 thousand euros. "In this way, the organization intends to enable the implementation of initiatives whose activities may include, for example, training, awareness, development of prototypes, research, promotion of actions at a local level, development of innovative practices and small social businesses", framed the AMI

«In the context of the three SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to which the project contributes – sustainable cities and communities, sustainable production and consumption and climate action – we defined the sectorial areas most suited to the Portuguese scenario. The expectation is to receive projects involving, for example, urban planning, waste management, recycling, environmental education, renewable energies, water resources management, among others», explained Andreia Carvalho, coordinator of the project in Portugal.

The initiative arises from a partnership between AMI and Fondazione Punto.sud, an Italian organization that works in the preparation, management and evaluation of humanitarian aid programs.

In Portugal, AMI is responsible for implementing the project, which is being developed in consortium with five European partners.

In addition to AMI and Punto.sud, “No Planet B” includes the institutions Asociatia Servicul Apel (Romania), Fondo Andaluz de Municipios para la Solidaridad Internacional (Spain), Finep academie eV (Germany) and Hungarian Baptist Aid (Hungary ) as partners.

The project is co-financed by the European Union and Instituto Camões and has a 36-month cycle.
