The Moinho do Cerro do Malpique, in Albufeira, will be able to be visited on the National Day of the Mills, which is celebrated, next Saturday, 7th of April. The City Council is organizing a program of free guided tours to this space, between 10:00 and 16:00.

The Moinho do Cerro do Malpique was inaugurated in August 2017, after "an intervention to rehabilitate the building and the mill, with the aim of restoring this important heritage element to the city, both in aesthetic and technical terms and in functional terms". explains the City Council of Albufeira.

The project to rehabilitate the mill and the external surroundings, which cost around 144 euros, «used traditional techniques and the construction of a mill from scratch, which allowed it to recover its original function: the grinding of cereals by force. motive of the wind'.

The Moinho do Cerro do Malpique is part of a broader project: the future “Cerro Cultural”, where “ancestral knowledge and alternative energies will coexist in a space that will function as an educational center and a center of tourist attraction”, adds the municipality .

Visits are subject to the capacity of the space and will be accompanied by technicians from the Municipal Museum of Archeology.
