The 25th of April takes place at Casa de Odeleite, between 10 am and 00 pm, with an event alluding to the ephemeris, which will feature cultural activities, ranging from reading poems to music, including painting.
On the day when the Carnation Revolution is commemorated, the Casa de Odeleite will be transformed into a painting studio with the participation of the Spanish painters Mercedes Antequera and Zita Soler and the German Karina Muller. In this event, visitors, in addition to attending a real live painting class, can enjoy the exhibition of paintings by the invited artists.
Music is also present at these celebrations, with the poet and musician Afonso Dias, who will interpret songs by composers of Portuguese popular music.
In collaboration with Espaço Literário Odeleia, near the Casa de Odeleite, there will also be a reading session, with the declamation of Portuguese poets, open to public participation.
According to Célia Brito, chairman of the Board of Directors of NovBaesuris, the municipal company that promotes the event, “The 25th of April Happens in Odeleite” “intends to remind citizens and in particular the youngest of the importance of the achievements of the 25th of April as freedom of expression, an essential value to living in any democratic society and, at the same time, publicize the Casa de Odeleite, one of the municipal facilities that has enormous potential for the tourist promotion of the municipality of Castro Marim».
The initiative has the support of the Castro Marim City Council and the local Parish Council and is part of NovBaesuris' cultural program “Happening at Casa de Odeleite”, monthly, which «aimed at recreating entertainment moments, energizing the space and traditions of the Lower Guadiana».
