The Cerro da Cabeça Festival takes place next Monday, April 2, in Moncarapacho (Olhão), fulfilling a tradition «more than 70 years old».

The party starts early in the morning, with countless families and friends getting together for a picnic to eat the folar and taste the first snails of the year.

At 15:00 pm there will be a ball with Luís Filipe Francesa and the climb to the viewpoint is also part of the conviviality.

This tradition in the municipality of Olhão is always fulfilled on the Monday following Easter Sunday and attracts people from neighboring municipalities.

In the past, «it was already one of the most popular festivals in the Eastern Algarve, and tours were even organized. Faro, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira, with the approval of the bosses who dismissed the workers to be present at the party», says the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta, which organizes the initiative with the support of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Moncarapacho.
