Tavira signed a cultural cooperation agreement with Commune Rurale de Souaken, from the Larache Province of the Kingdom of Morocco.

This protocol “aims to promote the common cultural heritage, both material and immaterial, of both regions, with a view to its social, economic, cultural and tourism enhancement for the benefit of citizens and dynamization of economic, cultural and educational agents”.

Another objective of the agreement is “to support the project of recognition and enhancement of the historical and cultural heritage related to the events of August 4, 1578, an episode known as the “Battle of the Three Kings”, by Alcácer Quibir or Oued El-Makhzen, based in the affirmation of the values ​​of peace and friendship between the two countries and the peoples, in line with the UNESCO Conventions».
