The gastronomy and theater show “Cataplay” has sessions tomorrow, March 28th, and Thursday, March 29th, at Galeria da Praça do Mar, in Quarteira (Loulé).
Tomorrow, the show will be presented in English, with Portuguese subtitles, and on the 29th, it will be presented in Portuguese, with English subtitles.
Both sessions start at 19:00.
“Cataplay” is not just a play, but a show that combines different arts, such as music, dance or movement. The gastronomy appears at the end of each presentation, with the tasting of a cataplana recipe, made by the team from Tertúlia Algarvia, and accompanied by wines produced in the region.
On stage are actors Tânia Silva and Mário Spencer and one of the most emblematic tools of regional cuisine: the cataplana.
The original idea comes from Tânia Silva, who explains that «the two characters in conflict – the Cook Marafada and the Famed Al-Chef – discuss life recipes with each other, while revealing the secrets of the cataplana».
«Life is also cooked and the cataplana appears, in this piece, as a magical object or a cauldron of spells where life and the future are cooked because, like cooking, cataplanar it is an act of love», adds Joana Guita, the author of the text.
After the debut in December, in Faro, at Tertúlia Algarvia, the promoter, the show continues to tour the Algarve, with presentations in various municipalities in the region, both in theaters and in less conventional spaces.
After Quarteira, “Cataplay”, which is supported by "365Algarve", passes by the Municipal Museum of Faro, on the 8th of April, at 18 pm, at Mercado da Ribeira, in Tavira, on the 00nd, at the same time, and by Tertúlia Algarvia, in Faro, on the 13th of May, also at 18:00.
Tickets cost 10 euros for people over 13 years old. Juniors (aged 6-12), students and seniors (aged 65 and over) pay 7 euros.
There is also the possibility of buying a family ticket (two adults and one or two children) for 25 euros or a package of 10 tickets for 80 euros.
