Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will visit this Saturday, March 10th, the gypsy families, who were left homeless, after the tornado in Faro. The information is provided by the Público newspaper, which quotes a source from the Presidency of the Republic.

According to the same source, the President of the Republic "had already decided to do it a few days ago, but the schedule prevented the visit from being carried out earlier."

Contacted by Sul Informação, source of the Chamber of Faro he said, however, that there is still no "indication" of that visit. "We still don't have that information," he said.

The tornado that, last Sunday, left a trail of destruction in Faro made about 130 people, from the gypsy camp of Cerro do Bruxo, homeless. Now, these families are staying overnight at the Penha Municipal Pavilion, but require the help of the City Council. Faro.

Last Tuesday, six gypsy associations took a stand against what they considered to be the "contempt" with which that community in Cerro do Bruxo is being faced.

In a statement, revealed by the Público newspaper, the associations say they are outraged “at the ease of alternatives proposed by the municipality of Faro, which go through the donation, once again, of wood to rebuild the tents».

Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, on one briefing held with journalists last Monday, he guaranteed that "as soon as the weather is more stable", these people "will return to their homes".

As for possible help to these people, the mayor explained that, "if justified, we can help rebuild some houses." But, he warns, "the municipality has a very great lack of social housing."
