The new Nissan Leaf was presented in the Algarve with the promise of coming «revolutionize the field of electric cars». Range of 380 kilometers, power of 150 horsepower and a hardware that allows you to accelerate and decelerate on the same pedal are some of the features of this Nissan model, which already has 20 orders in the region.

O stand of Nissan, from Grupo Entreposto, in Faro, was the site chosen for the presentation of the vehicle, an event that was attended by dozens of people.

Pedro Pescadinha, commercial responsible for Entreposto in Algarve, explained to Sul Informação that the car “has been a pre-launch hit”.

In the Algarve, «we have about 20 cars ordered, and there are people who do not want to place the order yet because we do not yet have the correct information on when we will have the cars ready», he added. For now, the Nissan Leaf is only «available to order».

One of the main new features of this car is the e-pedal, One hardware which allows you to accelerate and decelerate on the same pedal. The car, however, still has a normal brake and accelerator. O e-pedal is mainly intended for the stop-start and city traffic. Still, it can also be used on the highway.

Another feature of the Nissan Leaf is the pro-pilot, this to be used only on the highway. The car takes a reading of the lane and, with the distance radar from the car in front, takes over the driving.

But the driver has to have his hands on the steering wheel and, if he doesn't have them, the car beeps until it stops, turning on the four turn signals. The objective is to prevent the driver from falling asleep.

In a superior version of this Nissan Leaf, there is also the pro-pilot park. Just press a button for the car to park itself. Who has not dreamed of this?

The vehicle is electric, but Pedro Pescadinha, speaking to our newspaper, lamented the fact that, in Portugal, there are still few public charging stations. Still, people can always carry the car at home.

According to the official, the general feedback has been “good”. “It is also a very interesting car for local authorities, because it allows you to save a lot”, he considered.

This Nissan Leaf costs 34.400 euros, but there are some special conditions, as you can see here
