Luís Graça, Member of the Assembly of the Republic and President of the Municipal Assembly of Faro, was elected today president of the Regional Federation of the Algarve of the Socialist Party, in direct elections that took place in the 16 council structures in the Algarve.

In his first statements after the results were known, Luís Graça expressed his desire to «work in close liaison with António Costa and the Government, to consolidate the progress made in the region in terms of employment and social cohesion in the last two years and resolve some structural problems in the areas of health and mobility”, which he classified as priorities in the “Algarve Mais Forte” motion, which will lead to the next Congress.

"The PS is going to leave its comfort zone, we have to leave the party headquarters and listen to the region, social partners, business associations and unions about where we want to be in 2030 and which are the priority investments for the Algarve", said the President-elect of PS-Algarve.

Luís Graça also stressed that he wants to “network with the mayors of municipalities and parishes, in a logic of great proximity to regional institutions, in order to ensure full compliance with the investment targets established in Algarve 2020 and involve civil society in the debate and in the construction of the next community framework, in line with the priorities outlined for Portugal 2030».

In parallel, socialist militants elected delegates from each council structure to the Federative Congress, which will take place on March 24, in Lagoa.

She was also elected the president and the Political Commission of the Federative Department of Socialist Women, which continues to be led by the Mrs Ana Passos.
