Stand-up comedy, Rouxinol Faduncho, fado, with Adriana Marques and Cláudia Leal, and the program “Somos Portugal” will liven up the Monchique Sausages Fair, which takes place on March 3rd and 4th, at Heliporto Municipal.

According to the Municipality of Monchique, this year, «with the intention of improving both the quality of the event and the entire surrounding space», the municipality «worked to provide the visitor with a varied program, as well as a more attractive and dynamic venue. ».

The organization adds that "the proposal for this edition of the Sausages Fair is to pay homage to tradition, uses and customs" and that "the presence of several Sausage Production Units and Traditional Kitchens, give the event the genuineness of flavors and knowledge».

In addition to gastronomy, handicrafts also have a strong presence, with stands dedicated to sweets, arbutus, bread and other products

The enclosure will have a “Traditions Space”, an area destined to the most popular and traditional side of the entire sausage making process. In this area there will be a photography exhibition on the traditional sausage production process.

In this place, will happen “Meetings that the memory keeps” – Conversations with the Senior Academy of Monchique. According to the Municipality of Monchique, this will be “a way to know and understand the essence of a people”.

This area will also have a participatory area where it will be possible to identify the various types of sausages, their specificities and consumption suggestions.

There will also be an “Innovation Space”, dedicated to the most modern and innovative side, where presentations on business ideas will be held.
“How to innovate? Sausages with cherry pulp”, by Salsicharia da Covilhã, and “Sausages and creative sewing? – How to interconnect products?”, by Lili Aidinha, are the themes that will be addressed and the target of interventions, exhibitions and demonstrations by the respective brands.

In this area there will also be room for tastings by exhibitors, in a gourmet space created for that purpose.

Children will have a privileged area in this 25th edition. The "Espaço Bolota", specially created with the little ones in mind, will provide workshops on the pig, exploring the relationship of this animal with nature, its eating habits, the characteristics of its habitat, its social organization and the human imagination with he related.

According to the Municipality of Monchique, «these expressive and creative workshops will allow the child to integrate this knowledge in a playful way, working creatively».

In addition to these specific areas, the event has the "Praça Sabores", the restaurant area, which brings together various gastronomic proposals.

Visitors to the Feira dos Enchidos can also attend and participate in the “Cooking Laboratory – Sharing Knowledge and Flavors”, promoted by the Association of Cooks and Pastry Makers of the Algarve, with the Monchique sausages as the main focus of creation and confection.

The autarchy adds that "there will also be other proposals for socializing and entertainment for the whole family, with animation by Grupo Atar and Pôr ao Fumeiro and a Municipal area where various activities will take place."

In terms of musical entertainment, there will be fado (Saturday at 15:00 pm), with Cláudia Leal, «owner of a voice and a presence that enchants» and who «marks the difference in the panorama of fado as she is the only woman who plays and sings the fado».

Adriana Marques, a fado singer from Monchiquense, will also be present at the fair, on Saturday at 16:30 pm, where she will present the CD “Simplesmente”. In addition to the concert, there will be an autograph session with the artist.

Still in the area of ​​fado, but humorous, a concert with “Rouxinol Faduncho”, a character created by actor and humorist Marco Horácio, is scheduled for the same day, at 21 pm.

Who also promises to make people laugh is Miguel Costa, who will present a Stand-up Comedy show, at 18 pm.

On Sunday, there will be «one of the strong points of this edition», the TVI program “Somos Portugal” will take place in the fairgrounds, from 12:30 pm to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 20:00 pm.

According to the local authority, "this programme, leader in audiences, promotes the biggest popular parties and will add even more music and entertainment to the Feira dos Enchidos."
The event takes place from 10:00 am to 23:00 pm, on the 3rd, and from 10:00 am to 21:00 pm, on the 4th, and has free admission.

In addition to all the specific areas and all the programming, the Lima Duque Award will take place during the event, awarded to a sausage producer, in order to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Luís Fernando Maia de Lima Duque, veterinarian and person always linked to this fair.
