Moncaparacho lived «days of madness», on the 11th and 13th of February, in a Carnival that was «the best ever».

According to the União de Freguesias de Moncarapacho and Fuzeta, “the streets burst at the seams, mainly on Tuesdays, to see and play with the approximately 500 revelers who gave life to the 14 floats that participated in the carnival corso».

«And, in the end, opinions were unanimous: they had never seen so many people in Moncarapacho as on Carnival days», says the municipality.

“The Chinese Dragon Feast”, “The Ancient Egyptian Civilization”, “The maddening nightlife of Las Vegas”, “The Three Musketeers”, “The Pirates of the Caribbean” or “Aviation in World War II” were some of the themes of the floats that made visitors travel back in time.

«As it could not be otherwise, the tropical touch was given by a car with Brazilian dancers, in a corso where there were also stilts, jugglers and clowns».

The Moncarapacho Carnival, which claims to be the most «authentic and genuine» of the Algarve, is distinguished «by the peculiar paper flowers that cover the floats, which give it the nickname of “Batalha das Flores”».

As a complement to the event, from Friday (9th) to Tuesday (13th) masked balls were held at the Casa do Povo in Moncarapacho.
