The José Mariano Gago Municipal Library, in Olhão, will host the conference “Socio-moral development and autonomy: the pedagogical model of the Modern School Movement”, next Friday, February 9, at 17:30 pm.

This initiative, promoted by the Modern School Movement (MEM) is aimed mainly at teachers, educators, technicians, guardians, psychologists, but is open to the general public.

As explained by the Chamber of Olhão, the MEM “proposes to build, through the action of the teachers who are part of it, the democratic formation and the socio-moral development of the students they work with, ensuring their full participation in the management of the school curriculum”.

In this way, «the students are responsible for collaborating with the teachers in the planning of curricular activities, for helping each other in the learning that arises from study, research and intervention projects and for participating in their evaluation», adds the municipality.

According to the MEM, «this assessment is based on a cooperative negotiation of judgments of appreciation and control of the objectives assumed in the collective curriculum plans and in the individual work plans and other maps and checklists of the learning work, which serve as a record and monitoring of what was contracted in the Educational Cooperation Council».
