The MED, from Loulé, but also the Festival “F”, from Faro, and Terras Sem Sombra, from Baixo Alentejo, are finalists for the 3rd edition of the Iberian Festival Awards, whose winners are announced on 15 March.

The Loulé festival is a finalist in five categories: “Best Medium Size Festival”, “Best Tourism Promotion”, “Contribution to Sustainability”, Best Performance (Portugal/Spain), for Ana Moura, and “Best Lusófono and Hispanic Festival” , in the year in which a winner in this last category will be distinguished for the first time.

For the organization of the MED, «it is an honor to be, once again, among the best at the Iberian level in the area of events related to music and culture».

Festival F is a finalist in the categories “Best Tourism Promotion”, “Best Performance (Portugal/Spain)”, with Miguel Araújo, and “Best Lusófono and Hispanic Festival”.

Also on the list of finalists is the Festival Terras Sem Sombra, a finalist in two categories. They are “Best Small Dimension Festival” and “Best Cultural Program”. Terras Sem Sombra combines musical programming – classical and traditional – with activities to enhance the heritage and safeguard biodiversity in Baixo Alentejo.

In this list of finalists, there is also the Music Festival of the World of Sines, nominated in four categories: "Best Large-scale Festival", "Best Tourism Promotion", "Best Poster", and "Best Cultural Program".

The Fiesa - International Sand Sculpture Festival, which takes place in Pêra, municipality of Silves, appears as a finalist in the category "Best Non-Musical Festival".

Unlike what happened in the first two editions of these awards, the finalists were now chosen only by public vote. There are 22 categories that will be disputed this year, and there is still space for the delivery of an Excellence Award to an honoree.

These awards aim to recognize, support and reward festivals of music and other disciplines, media partners, musical artists and companies that provided services at the festivals throughout 2017.

The Iberian Festival Awards are the only Iberian recognition dedicated to festivals, being an important reference in the evolution of the sector.

The winners of the 3rd Iberian Festival Awards will be at a gala to be held at Forum Lisboa. In 2017, MED won the award for Best Medium-Sized Festival.
