The Portimão Chamber will allocate 480 thousand euros to support municipal entities, for actions in the area of Civil Protection. The bulk of this amount, 450 euros, is intended for the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Portimão, but the support will also reach the Red Cross and Escutas, who will receive 25 and 5 thousand euros, respectively.

The municipality of Portimão took advantage of the visit to the municipality of Eduardo Cabrita, Minister of Internal Administration, and three secretaries of State of the Government, yesterday, Monday, to develop a working day and a tour of structures linked to Civil Protection, in Portimão .

The presence of members of the Government was also used to sign collaboration protocols in this area with three entities.

In the case of Voluntary Firefighters, the budget for 2018 was increased by 50 thousand euros, compared to last year. The signed program-contract "thus ensures a multidisciplinary device for protection and rescue operations, over 24 hours, to materialize the first alarm in the various aspects of the rescue, with a high degree of readiness, properly prepared and equipped with appropriate technical means" , according to the Chamber of Portimo.

The agreement with the Red Cross of Portimão, with an associated budget of 25 euros, “provides for the maintenance of a minimum force in reaction to the state of special alert and the qualification of human resources in strengthening the capacity for response and mobilization in operations of civil protection and relief».

The Scouts from Portimão also receive support, in this case of 5 euros, in order to ensure "the capacity to prepare and transport food support for the operatives engaged in protection and relief operations, as well as a permanent reserve of individual emergency kits" .

This «networking», defended by the mayor of Portimão Isilda Gomes at the time, is one of the strengths of the civil protection system in the municipality. "While the base of the pyramid is not fully trained, there is no sustainable Civil Protection", defended the mayor, who assured that Portimão "has his homework done" in this matter.

A vision shared by Eduardo Cabrita, who, according to the Portimão City Council, “exalted the exemplary way in which it is organized and the dynamics of the Municipal Civil Protection in Portimão, being a model to follow”.

The government delegation had the opportunity to go to the field, where they accompanied rural cleaning initiatives and an operational training action in the context of fighting a forest fire, among others. In the end, the Portimão grouping of the Corpo Nacional de Escutas tested the logistical capacity of the food support unit, preparing meals that the members of the Government and 150 others had the opportunity to taste.
