The Friends' Choir of the São Brás Museum will perform at the Igreja da Misericórdia, in Tavira, on January 13th, at 18 pm. The concert is part of the cycle “Música nas Igrejas”.

The choir was founded by maestro Valter Sulzer, in March 2006, with an initial group of five women. «However, the objective of its creation was to form a mixed choir capable of interpreting polyphonic music from the Renaissance and Baroque. Currently, the choir has about 45 choirists of different nationalities, namely, German, Scottish, Dutch, English, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Swiss», tells the Chamber of Tavira.

The Museum's Friends Choir sings sacred and profane music from the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and contemporary, as well as Portuguese popular music.

“Music in the Churches” “aims to energize the built heritage, as well as to promote a taste for music. The concerts take place every Saturday and are aimed at the general public», concludes the Tavirense municipality.
