A walking tour, on the 14th of January, in Cortelha (Loulé), will revive the tradition of slaughtering the pig.

Along the route of about 10 kilometers «it will be possible to observe some of the routines associated with this activity which, more than the killing ritual, constituted, above all, a moment of strong social interaction between family and friends», says the Associação dos Friends of Cortelha, which organizes the initiative.

The Algarve mountain is, therefore, the ideal setting for this tour, allowing you not only to learn more about this tradition, but also to appreciate nature and the most representative elements of this region, such as the mill, church, fountains and traditional houses », he adds.

The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 am in Cortelha, and the tour should start at 9:30 am. Afterwards, a convivial snack is planned, which should take place at 13:00. Registration costs 8 euros for non-members of the association and 5 euros for members, free for children under 12 years of age.

To register, please send an email to [email protected] or call 918550180 and 965029758. This activity has the support of the Parish Council of Salir and the Municipality of Loulé.
