The 61-year-old man, suspected of having abducted and raped his ex-partner, in Vila Real de Santo António, is in preventive detention.

According to new information just released by the Public Ministry, there are suspicions that the defendant, last Saturday, January 20, «entered the victim's house, in Faro, and of having forced her to go with him to a house in Vila Real de Santo António».

It will have been in that location that the suspect kept the victim arrested and raped her, contrary to what was advanced yesterday by the Judiciary Police, which realized that the crimes had occurred in Faro.

Also according to the Judiciary Police, «on the night of the 20th to the 21st, the man had already approached the victim «violently», when she was in a «recreational society of Faro», which led to the intervention of the GNR.

In addition to this, the defendant is also suspected of, at the time he lived with the 35-year-old victim, "to have physically and psychologically mistreated her".

This situation led, in August 2017, that this woman ended the relationship, which was not accepted by the defendant.

The investigation is under judicial secrecy and is directed by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Faro, with the assistance of the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police.
