The Naval Club Gym Faro he was the big winner of the 2nd Regional Qualification Competition in sailing, which took place on Saturday and Sunday in Portimão. Athletes from the club from Faro won the three podium places, in this class, in the Regata Dia da Cidade, organized by the Clube Naval de Portimão.

Sailors Guilherme Cavaco, William Risselin and Miguel Sancho, all from GCN de Faro, obtained, respectively, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the youth optimist competition, in which 66 athletes participated. Beatriz Cintra, from the host club, was in sixth place overall and secured the 1st place in women.

In children's optimist, Tiago Andrade, from GCN de Faro, was the first, followed by Rita Loureiro, from Clube Náutico de Tavira. Pablo Santos, from the Guadiana Naval Association (VRSA) was 3rd.

In the Laser Radial class, the Clube Naval de Faro also stood out, placing 5 athletes in the top 5 places. André Granadeiro, Martim Sancho and Martim Fernandes, in that order, occupied the three podium places. Daniela Miranda, from Associação Naval do Guadiana, was the best in women, having secured the 10th position overall.

In the Laser 4.7 class, Julien Carter, from Grupo Naval de Olhão, was 1st, Lúcia Neto, from Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, was 2nd overall (1st female) and João Henrique, from Clube de Vela de Lagos, secured third place.

In the windsurfing formula competition, it was Clube Naval de Portimão that dominated the entire line, guaranteeing the first five places. Miguel Martinho was the winner, Vasco Chaveca and Luís Fonseca ensured the 2nd and 3rd place.

 

Also on Sunday, December 10th, Clube Naval de Portimão organized the 2nd International Fishing Tournament “surfcasting” at Praia de Alvor, which had 50 participants.

The winner of this competition was the Spaniard José Flores Villegas, followed by Onofre Gonçalves, from GDR Olhos de Água and Henrique Jesus, from CNPD Albufeira. In 4th, was Rosa Oliveira, from SC Escanchinas, the competitor who caught the most fish, 35 in total.

The prize for the biggest fish was shared by two teammates, Onofre Gonçalves and José Marques, both from GDR Olhos de Água. Each of them caught a specimen weighing 883 grams.
