The Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School, in Portimão, joined the European Professional Training Week (European Vocational Skills Week), an initiative of the European Commission that encompassed a very diverse set of events taking place between 20 and 24 November throughout Europe, with a view to enhancing the training and professional qualification of young and younger people.

Intending to create the opportunity to reflect on the skills that young people can and should develop in vocational education at secondary level, skills that facilitate the transition to the labor market, the final year students of the Professional Tourism Course were challenged to participate in a simulation activity job interviews, which took place in the small auditorium of TEMPO, in Portimão, on the 22nd.

Under the motto "Are you ready to work with us?", under the guidance of teacher Ana Batista, youngsters Bianca Inácio, Nuno Martins, Carmen Chissumba, Daniela Lopes, Nádia Silva and Inês Silva took to the stage to dispute three real job offers : Animation and Sport Monitor, Guest Relations, receptionist.

In front of an audience consisting mainly of secondary school students and teachers, the job interviews were conducted by human resources professionals Rui Cristino, from Martinhal Sagres Family Hotels & Resorts, Rui Nunes, from Nau Hotels & Resort, and Paulo Gomes, from Vila Vita Parc.

The initiative ended with a lecture given by Pedro Lopes, administrator of the Pestana Group in the Algarve, on the future of the labor market in the tourism sector in the Algarve region, with the project for the resort which the group is building in Alvor and for which it foresees the creation, in the medium term, of 300 direct jobs.
