The Algarve International Festival of Light (“LUZA”) will take, from 24th to 26th November, «performances of light, color and sound» and «multimedia and interactive projections» to the streets of Loulé.

All of this will provide «unique moments of discovery of the culture, customs and traditions of the Algarve region», says the organization.

On the first night, the highlight of the LUZA Festival is scheduled for 18:30, at the Convento de Santo António.

From there, participants will be invited to take a tour through the city's streets, to the Bandstand, on Avenida José da Costa Mealha, passing through various performances where it will be possible to interact with the artists and where the monuments will be transformed into giant canvases when open air.

Every day, from 19 pm until midnight, the Municipal Market's façade will be the stage for a show by videomapping (with sessions every 45 minutes).

At the Convento Santo António, the exhibition on “Light and Installation” by ByBeau will be on display (from 10:00 am).

On the 24th of November, the conference “Working with Light” will take place at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, at 15:00, and, on the 25th, the “Torch Light Parade” (between 18:30 and 23:00), which promises to bring to the streets of Loulé lots of animation, color and light. All activities are free entry.

This unique initiative counts on the participation of national and international artists: ByBeau Studio, Grandpa's Lab (who are, among others, responsible for the performances of videomapping from Terreiro do Paço), Felipe Mejías (known for his creative performance in sand in contrast to light), Boris Chimp 504, Musson+retallick, Plex Noir and the Poles Joaquim Slugocki & Katarzyna Malejka.

The organization believes that Portugal, with LUZA, will be able to join the itinerary of international artistic lighting festivals, such as the Festival of Lights (Lyon), Glow (Eindhoven) or Artist lights (Turin).

LUZA is curated by Scottish artist Beau McClellan and supported by 365Algarve.
