João Guerreiro, chairman of the Independent Technical Committee that analyzed what happened in the fires of Pedrógão Grande and former rector of the University of the Algarve (UAlg), will participate in a “Public reflection on the problem of forest and fires” this Thursday, November 9th, at 14:30 pm, at Espaço +, in Aljezur. 

The initiative, which takes place within the scope of the Masters in Sustainable Management of Rural Spaces, will also include the presence of António Miranda, engineer from the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF) and regional coordinator of the District Plan for the Defense of Forest Fire Fighting – Algarve.

This is a master's degree whose «objective is to train specialists in this area of ​​knowledge, with an adequate profile for intervention in regional development and planning and in the entire area of ​​space management in rural areas, in a global perspective of the sustainability of economic resources». explains UAlg.

In this initiative, a partnership protocol will be signed between the Municipality of Aljezur and the University of Algarve, which will translate into support for the completion of the Masters.

The course is jointly organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, and the Escola Superior Agrária of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja.
